Description
Queen’s University Belfast (Queen’s), School of Natural and Built Environment wish to procure a contract for supply, delivery, installation and commissioning of a Benchtop Micro-X-Ray Fluorescence Spectrometer. This item is required for elemental analysis of artefacts, for conservation, and for trace element mapping. Queen’s is applying for funding from the Arts and Humanities Research Council (AHRC) to procure this equipment. Award of this tender is dependent on and subject to a successful bid by Queen’s. An assessment will also be made of whether the University can meet the funder the conditions. Queen’s hope to have confirmation of the bid by the first week in December 2020. Instrument will be supplied, delivered, installed and invoiced received by 31 March 2021.

Legal Justification
Queen's will be availing of Article 27 (3), Public Contracts Regulations 2015; where a state of urgency duly substantiated by the contracting authority renders impracticable the time limit laid down in the second subparagraph of paragraph 1, it may fix a time limit which shall be not less than 15 days from the date on which the contract notice was sent.
