Description
The City of Edinburgh Council intends to commission a recovery service to work primarily with people over the age of 18 from Edinburgh and Midlothian who are in the justice system and meet the criteria for support. Support will include psychosocial support for addictions in prison, and voluntary throughcare holistic support to assist with successful reintegration into the community.
Total Quantity or Scope
The Service will: - work towards becoming trauma informed, adapting to the needs of the service users and reducing barriers to access. It will be expected to work collaboratively in close partnership with other statutory and voluntary service providers within agreed pathways of service provision for this population, where possible working to one shared multi-agency plan for each service user; - adopt a harm-reduction and recovery-centred approach for those with problematic alcohol and drug use, working with individuals to build and encourage the creation of recovery capital, supporting people to move away from harmful behaviours and other issues that increase the likelihood of re-offending. By adopting a holistic approach, the Service will provide robust routes into a range of support services and networks, assisting individuals to access support that is right for them; and - provide more intensive support for those with a greater need. Recovery capital and risk of substance-related harms and of re-offending will be assessed on entering the Service, and an appropriate level of support will be matched to this. This should ensure that a greater intensity of support is delivered to individuals who are the most chaotic and marginalised, and that activities to reduce re-offending are targeted at those from Edinburgh and Midlothian whose offending is most prolific.
