Description

This project would build on the pioneering work of Operation Nightingale and develop a model applicable to making a real difference to young people who are at risk of entering the criminal justice system and/or are already in the prison system. It would work by co-producing archaeology, archaeological survey or heritage reconstruction projects with vulnerable young people in Wiltshire and Kent. The project aims to develop tested models of good practice for others to use; clearly identified wellbeing outcomes including reduced re-offending rates where applicable and enhanced opportunities, and evidence of the potential for the historic environment to contribute towards addressing social inequality (levelling up). The key deliverables for the contractor/supplier: • A report on the wellbeing benefits of relevant previous work (with young offenders in other parts of the cultural sector & similar models of operation for different groups such as Nightingale ) • A fully-costed feasibility study for carrying out two projects (in Kent and Wiltshire)
