The procurement process followed the Innovation Partnership procedure and was intended to encourage innovative businesses to help United Utilities tackle key efficiency, safety and customer challenges in innovative ways. The United Utilities Innovation Lab will be a 12-week programme and successful candidates will be co-located and work closely with United Utilities to test, develop, improve and demonstrate their product/service in live customer environments. More information about this opportunity can be found at the following address www.unitedutilities.com/innovation UU worked with L Marks in the delivery of this procurement process. Documents including a step-by-step guide and how to use the Portal were included within the documents folder and more information can be found on the website at www.unitedutilities.com/innovation. Following the completion of the Innovation Lab, UU may enter into a supply agreement with 1 or more participants. The maximum price will be set at no more than demonstrable and approved costs + 50 % margin. Alternatively, UU may take a license to manufacture from 1 or more participants. Final versions of the contract terms will be provided prior to Pitch Day. Drafts are made available at the applications stage for information, along with a draft procurement document for the Ideas Stage. UU will not pay candidates for Lab participation alone, but will provide a fixed maximum level of participation support in consideration for which participants will be expected to carry out the relevant R&D activities. UU will pay each successful candidate up to GBP 5 000 for legal costs for participants to review and understand the contract terms before entering the Lab.
