Description

Self-harm is a considerable and increasing public health concern both locally and nationally. Whilst self-harm rates are increasing, presentation to clinical service has not kept pace. The prevalence of self-harm in the community is generally increasing year on year. It is well-known that non-fatal self-harm is the strongest risk factor for subsequent suicide attempt - this risk factor significantly increases further when an individual presents at clinical services, particularly adolescents. Leicestershire County Council, alongside Leicester City Council and Rutland County Council, are looking to jointly procure the service of "Community Self-Harm Intervention", which will provide capacity and expertise at a community level to sensitively support individuals who self-harm. The service will do this via two streams: • Stream 1; Inform and Prevent • Stream 2; Early Intervention (further information on both streams can be found in the specification) Amongst other aims, this service should look to increase the quality, availability and access to information and self-help resources for prevention. The contract value assigned to this service is £301,500 for the initial two-year contract term. This contract may potentially be extended beyond the initial 2-year period for period/s of up to a maximum of 24 months. However, this is subject to funding arrangements at the time and thus, this extension cannot be guaranteed at the moment.
