Description
The authority is seeking contractor(s) for the supply of those laboratory consumables and chemicals required for the efficient functioning of laboratories in the Scottish HE/FE sector, NHS Scotland and other Scottish public sector organisations. For the purposes of this exercise, consumables and chemicals include but are not limited to Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), glassware, filtration plastics, molecular biology plastics, tissue culture plastics, pipette tips and pipettors, gloves, solvents, fine chemicals, alcohol and acids, bio-chemicals, in-organic chemicals and salts and green chemicals. The framework agreement is Lotted with stock management one-stop-shop provisions included. The supply of all products should include a provision for take-back schemes where possible.
Lot Division
1 | Laboratory Personal Protective Equipment 4.6.1.1 In order to minimise the risk of injury or illness to laboratory staff and visitors, certain protective garments and implements are required. These include but are not limited to: laboratory coats, coveralls, protective aprons, sleeve protectors, safety shoes, respirators, eye care supplies, safety glasses and eye protection, face masks, head protection, signage and spill kits. 2 | Laboratory Glassware A variety of glassware suitable for a range of laboratory applications are required. Glassware supplied must be fit for purpose, meet descriptions requested, and where required manufactured to withstand the many rigours of laboratory work such as temperature fluctuation and storing volatile compounds. 3 | Filtration Plastics Plastics for use in general and specialised filtration. Products include but are not limited to: bottle top filters, cell strainers centrifuge filters, filter holders, filter paper, filtration apparatus, accessories, funnels, nitrocellulose membrane filters, other membrane filters, PVDF membranes, powder funnels, syringe filters, vacuum filters, vacuum accessories. 8 | General Laboratory Consumables Any other consumables that may be required for the efficient daily laboratory function. This lot includes a wide range of products such as needles, storage racks and cleaning products. A variety of disposable and reusable plastics for everyday laboratory purposes are also included. 9 | Solvents A variety of solvents such as Methyle Sulphoxide-D6, Acetone-D3 and Methanol-D4 suitable for a range of laboratory applications. Award Criteria

14 | Green Chemicals This Lot covers all types of chemicals designed to reduce or eliminate the use of hazardous substances in line with the twelve principles of green chemistry: prevention, atom economy, less hazardous chemical syntheses, designing safer chemicals, safer solvents and auxiliaries, design for energy efficiency, use of renewable feedstocks, reduce derivatives,catalysis, design for degradation, real-time analysis for pollution prevention, Inherently safer chemistry for accident prevention. Institutions may use this lot to contract for a fully managed service for laboratory consumables. Award Criteria

16 | Stock Managed One-Stop-Shop for Chemicals only This Lot covers all types of chemicals commonly used in laboratories including, but not limited to, those detailed in the Lot descriptions for Lots 9 - 14. Institutions shall use this lot to contract for a fully managed service for laboratory chemicals. Award Criteria
