Description

Yorkshire Water (YW) manage the collection, treatment and distribution of water in Yorkshire, supplying around 1 240 000 000 litres of drinking water each day. At the same time collecting, treating and disposing of about one billion litres of waste water safely back into the environment. YW were looking to establish a dual lot, multi-supplier framework to service the business requirement for minor civil works across the YW estate covering.

Lot Division

1 Minor Civil Engineering Works

Minor civil and building works associated with selected above or below ground assets on operational treatment, collection or distribution facilities involving structures as one-off projects. ‘Minor’ work would generally (but not exclusively) be considered as the construction of structures below 2 m in height, excavation to depths not exceeding 1.2 m and repairs/modifications to existing structures where access is feasible from simple fixed or mobile scaffolding platforms. — repairs to on-site access roads, not public highways/roads, — services to include build, refurbishment/repairs. The scope of services shall include but not be limited to: — full compliance with the duties of the principal contractor, as defined by the CDM Regulations, — temporary works, — preparatory works and site establishment facilities, — provision of plant, materials, labour, supervision, — supplier/sub-contractor management, — minor construction and repair works for the following: — earthworks including trial pits and removal of spoil, — demolition and removal of existing small structures, — above ground concrete structures such as base slabs, pipe supports and bunded areas, — below ground structures such as valve chambers and pump sumps, — plinths/concrete bases for MCC's, chemical dosing skids, pumps and other plant items, — installation of prefabricated process elements such as tanks, support frames and kiosks, — above and below ground pipework, connections and fittings, — brickwork/blockwork construction, — building works including brickwork and masonry modifications/repairs, lintel/door frame installation, painting, etc. — timber and joinery work, — manholes, — drainage pipework — draw pits and ductwork, — roads, pavements and hardstanding areas including kerbs, drainage features, steps, surface repairs, road markings, signs, etc. — concrete cutting and coring, — gates and fences (Not security), — interconnecting pipework. The scope of services may include: 1) Full compliance with the duties of Principal Designer, as defined by the CDM Regulations where appropriate; 2) Building Information Management to PAS1192 and YW specific requirements; 3) Compliance with Street works regulations & standards where applicable and if applicable, traffic management.

2 Minor Civils Specialist Activities for Water Retaining Structures

This lot aims to cover: — minor civil works associated with selected above or below ground assets on operational treatment, collection or distribution facilities involving structures as one off projects, — services to include refurbishment/repairs/waterproofing of clean (potable) water and wastewater retaining structures including reservoirs. The scope of services shall include but not be limited to: — full compliance with the duties of the principal contractor, as defined by the CDM Regulations as applicable, — temporary works, — preparatory works and site establishment facilities, — provision of plant, materials, labour, supervision, — supplier/sub-contractor management, — concrete repairs, — application of protective coatings/linings, — application of waterproof membranes, — joint repairs, — leak repairs, — installation of covers, — minor civil works associated with the above repairs, — minor metalwork, — brickwork repairs.
