Description
Health Education England (HEE - the Commissioner) are putting out this notice as a PIN (Prior Information Notice) with a view to completing a Direct Award. Please note the contracting authority intends to direct award the contract to Skills for Care. The case for direct award can be found on the tender portal. Deliverables The specific deliverables of the award are summarised below. • co-produce a guidance document that maps and embeds occupational therapy curricula and learning outcomes across social care placement settings • review the pre-registration Occupational Therapy curriculum (HCPC preregistration standards for Occupational Therapy) and map what a 'learning outcome' will be in different social care settings. • identify new placement opportunities for OT student placements across the social care sector Rationale for selection of supplier HEE believes that it is highly unlikely for any other supplier to be able to provide the expertise provided by the Skills for Care as a supplier for the following reasons: • Has a national remit to support workforce development and learning in the adult social care sector, with established links and contacts within a range of different social care settings e.g., shared lives, supported living, domiciliary care, hospices, Nursing homes, residential care, day centres, social work/local authorities, and housing. • Has an established partnership with Royal College of Occupational Therapy (RCOT) and have engaged in joint projects such as national CPD events for occupational therapists, development of national learning and development framework and are currently developing a strategic approach to occupational therapy in social care. • It already supports Principal Occupational Therapists (POTs) as part of their existing leadership offer and can build on existing relationships/contacts they have with local authorities, networks and wider system. • Recognises the diversity of the workforce and engages with all sectors of the social care community which means they can assure wide representation in the working group including people with black and ethnic minority backgrounds. The financial envelope for the contract is £33,955
