Description

Ulster Wildlife sought to appoint an experienced economic operator to carry out drain blocking with peat, plastic and peat/ply dams for restoration of four raised bogs Special Areas of Conservation in Northern Ireland for the INTERREG Va supported Collaborative Action for the Natura Network project. Work was to completed by end March 2022 (although if conditions do not allow work to proceed an extension to June 2022 may be possible).

Ulster Wildlife sought to appoint an experienced economic operator to carry out drain blocking with peat, plastic and peat/ply dams for restoration of four raised bogs Special Areas of Conservation in Northern Ireland for the INTERREG Va supported Collaborative Action for the Natura Network project. Work was to completed by end March 2022 (although if conditions do not allow work to proceed an extension to June 2022 may be possible). Works included 94 peat dams at Peatlands Park SAC, Armagh; 125 plastic dams at Kilmore Robinson_Fairy Water Bogs SAC, Tyrone; 44 peat dams, 25 plastic dams and 2 multi-lock dam at Garry Bog SAC, Antrim; 334 peat dams at Moneygal Bog SAC; Tyrone. NOTE; Ulster Wildlife had insufficient budget in its INTERREG project to completely cover all four bogs. Therefore, £80,401.07 of INTERREG funding was used to cover works at Peatlands Park, Garry and Fairy Water Bogs, and additional funding of £23,032.64 was sought to cover the cost of Moneygal Bog SAC. 45ha of Moneygal's hectares were excised from the INTERREG project.
