Description

The University requests tenders from sufficiently experienced and qualified Suppliers for Supply, installation, commissioning, and maintenance of a Helium Recovery system for a CTF Magnetoencephalography (MEG) scanner. Magnetoencephalography is an advanced functional neuroimaging technique in which the small magnetic fields generated by current flow in the brain are measured. The Sir Peter Mansfield Imaging Centre (SPMIC) operates a cryogenic MEG scanner which was installed in 2007. Research on this scanner has centred on a number of themes including neural oscillations, brain connectivity, clinical translation (in disorders including schizophrenia, epilepsy and concussion) and development of MEG hardware. The cryogenic system requires approx. 140 litres of liquid helium per week. We aim to reduce this operating cost by installation of a local helium recovery system
