Description
Wigan Council is seeking tenders for the provision of insurances and associated claims handling provisions (but excluding broking services). This will include a Material Damage Package (including Business Interruption, Tower Blocks, Housing Stock, General, Garage Stock and Schools), Contractors All Risks, Fidelity Guarantee, Motor Fleet (and ULR), Personal Accident and Travel and School Journey, and Computer – in lots. Interested organisations may apply for one or more of the lots as listed below: Lot 1 - Property Damage Business Interruption, Money and All Risks. Lot 2 - Fidelity Guarantee. Lot 3 - Motor Uninsured Loss Recovery (3a) and Motor Fleet (3b). Lot 4 - Group Personal Accident and Travel. Lot 5 - Computer. Lot 6 - Contractors All Risks and Hired in Plant. Lot 7 - Provision of insurances and associated claims handling service. The contract(s) will run for an initial period of three years and may be extended for a further period of two years.

Legal Justification
The contract has been modified to enable the additional extension period in order that the contract can co-terminate with the Council's casualty liability insurance contract which is also due for renewal in May 2022. It is considered that by tendering both contracts as one package will enable Wigan Council to obtain the most competitive bids from the market resulting in financial savings, and will also enable the authority to procure the required classes of insurance under one tender programme saving in duplication of time.The contract is being modified again to extend the provision of insurance cover against Lot 1 only due to the Council receiving no compliant bids following its recent tender exercise. If the Insurance policy is not extended it would leave the Council with no insurance cover in place for the Authority's Property portfolio.
