To assess the maturity of industry capabilities, the Home Office ran Biometric Self-Enrolment Feasibility Trials in November and December 2021. The Home Office is now planning the next phase of biometric self-enrolment technology testing. It will be splitting up the technology testing into: 1. Self-service kiosk pilot 2. Second round of feasibility trials focussed on smartphone apps
