Description

The Violence Reduction Academy will be a key delivery vehicle of the NHS London Violence Reduction programme. The Academy aims to share learning of evidence-based models of health and social care, supporting implementation across the capital and sharing the latest research. The NHS London Violence Reduction Programme is pleased to announce our plans to launch a Violence Reduction Academy. The purpose of London Violence Reduction Programme is to lead the way in shaping how the NHS can support violence reduction and improve wellbeing in our communities at a population and individual level. The programme achieves this by: • Developing a shared understanding of violence reduction; • Building a movement within health and care that listens to young people; co-creating approaches that improve wellbeing and reduces health inequalities; • Developing an evidence base that demonstrates the impact of violence reduction programmes for young people, their families and the communities they live in; • Working in partnership across systems to develop and implement preventative approaches to reducing violence. The programme comprises of a number of London-wide projects designed to deliver change, and are well placed to bring young people, their families, NHS, local authorities and other key stakeholders together to implement violence reduction models across London. The Violence Reduction Academy will be a key delivery vehicle of the NHS London Violence Reduction programme. The Academy aims to gather learning of evidence-based models of health and social care, supporting implementation across the capital and sharing the best education and research. A key enabler to the success of the Academy is recognising existing areas of good practice and encouraging collaboration across system partners. To support us with evidence building and information gathering, we intend to fund an academic partner to undertake a wide-ranging review of current services and interventions and to provide evidence of best practice (and challenges) in clear and easily accessible formats for health and care professionals. We will be asking the partner to recruit and host Research Fellows (x2 0.5 WTE) and an Academic Supervisor (0.1 WTE) to deliver this work.
