Description

The purpose of this pre-tender market engagement exercise is to consult with the market to determine levels of interest in a possible requirement for 27 multi-modal rail wagons for the provision of Network Rail's seasonal treatment services.

Total Quantity or Scope

Network Rail intends to purchase a new build fleet of 27 multi-modal freight wagons. These shall be interoperable with its current fleet of 50 FEA-F freight wagons which are used for the provision of seasonal treatment services on the UK rail infrastructure. The seasonal fleet is used to deliver high pressure water jetting to clear adhesion from the rail head during the Autumn season (October – December). The wagons will form the base of the assets used to deliver these services. The wagons will have inter-changeable modules placed on top of them, which will deliver the applicable seasonal treatment. The wagons will operate nationally and be required to do so without operational restrictions. As far as reasonably practical, the new wagons should share the same technical and performance characteristics as the current fleet. The purpose of this pre-tender market engagement exercise is to consult with the market to determine the levels of market interest in this requirement.
