This specification seeks to procure Circle of Security Parenting (COS-P) training to bedelivered to suitable practitioners working in specialist perinatal mental health services andmaternal mental health services across all seven regions in England.COS-P is a parenting programme for parents and caregivers of children between the ages of4 months and 6 years. It is a targeted-selective programme delivered in a variety of healthcare settings and aims to improve children’s attachment.The Programme is based on 60 years of attachment theory and research about how parent/child relationships can be supported and strengthened; it makes attachment theory accessible and applicable to parents. (Attachment theory provides a framework for understanding children’s fundamental relational needs and our responses to those needs as caregivers.)
