Description

Currently no collection authorities in Suffolk collect food waste at the Kerbside. In order to align services with the Environment Act, Suffolk wishes to procure a contract that can accept and treat food waste from properties in Suffolk. We anticipate that the Contract will be let in 3 geographical lots, these being based in the north (Lowestoft), east (Ipswich) and west (Bury St Edmunds) of the county. Although this is what we foresee will be the best option, this has not been decided and we are open to discussion for best practice and service provision. We expect approximately 25,000-30,000 tonnes of food waste to be collected each year, however this tonnage is not guaranteed. We are issuing this PIN to inform the market of our intentions and invite all prospective service providers to participate in the pre-market engagement exercise to enable us to shape a suitable contract and procurement process.
