1054 - Container and Access Step Maintenance

Essex is a large county with almost 1.5 million residents generating approximately 700,000 tonnes of local authority collected waste per annum. As the statutory waste disposal authority for Essex, Essex County Council (the Authority) is responsible for providing a range of infrastructure and arrangements for the management of waste. The Authority operate 21 Recycling Centres for Household Waste (RCHW) and 4 Waste Transfer Stations (WTS), and work closely with the 12 borough, city and district councils who are the Waste Collection Authorities (WCA) within the county of Essex. The purpose of this procurement opportunity is to secure a contract for the maintenance and repair of a stock of approximately 450 Roll-On Roll-Off (RORO) Containers. These units consist mostly of 30m³ (40 Cubic Yard) open Containers that are compatible with the Authority’s hook lift collection fleet. The Authority are undertaking an Open Procedure via the ProContract e-sourcing portal. The intention of this is to seek to award a contract to a Contractor who can effectively deliver the required services within the Contract Term.

The purpose of this procurement opportunity is to secure a contract for the maintenance and repair of a stock of approximately 140 units of pedestrian Access Steps which are used daily by members of public to gain access to the Authority’s 40 cubic yard containers and safely deposit waste. The Authority’s sites may, at times, also require site additional maintenance and fabrication work to be undertaken and therefore the successful Contractor must have the ability to provide Adhoc Maintenance Works. The Authority are undertaking an Open Procedure via the ProContract e-sourcing portal. The intention of this is to seek to award a contract to a Contractor who can effectively deliver the required services within the Contract Term.
