Description
The Ancholme Internal Drainage Board has commissioned North Lincolnshire Council to undertake a formal tender exercise on its behalf to procure a consultant to produce a hydraulic model of its open channel watercourse network including pumping stations in order to: gain a comprehensive understanding of fluvial flood risk from the IDB network; and provide an evidence based decision making tool to be used to support future capital works funding applications for pumping stations and watercourse earthworks. The contract is expected to commence in January 2020 for up to 18 months.
Total Quantity or Scope
The Ancholme Internal Drainage Board has commissioned North Lincolnshire Council to undertake a formal tender exercise on its behalf to procure a consultant to produce a hydraulic model of its open channel watercourse network including pumping stations in order to: — gain a comprehensive understanding of fluvial flood risk from the IDB network, — provide an evidence based decision making tool to be used to support future capital works funding applications for pumping stations and watercourse earthworks. The contract is expected to commence in January 2020 for up to 18 months. This is the first time the IDB has approached hydraulic modelling from a Drainage District-wide perspective to inform future strategy and provide an evidenced based decision tool in relation to Asset Management and Total Catchment Management. The IDB wishes to understand the value of their catchments, demonstrate the benefits of water level management for the Drainage District as well as look for opportunities to reduce flood risk through hydraulic modelling. Outputs from hydraulic modelling will include: • improved surface water flood risk mapping; • up to date condition photographs and topographic channel survey data; • sharing improved evidence information with LLFA, LPA and EA; • improved understanding of impact on development reliance on maintained systems; • assist in the identification of critical locations; • flood maps will assist in evidenced based prioritisation for maintenance: and • visually demonstrate to Partners the benefits of sustaining IDB operations.
