Description

The Digital Transformation of Screening Programme is one of the 10 major transformation pieces of work being taken forward following the NHSX 2019 major review of NHS tech spending. These reviews found numerous issues affecting the delivery of screening in England, including the fact that the IT systems used by screening programmes are old, complex and are no longer fit for purpose. These systems result in inefficiencies and errors being made and are increasingly liable to fail. The Digital Transformation of Screening (DToS) programme seeks to address these issues by investing in the development and implementation of a new IT system to be used to identify, manage, and track screening participants. The focus of this programme is the five population screening services currently available to adults and young people in England plus two targeted screening services that may be approved by the UK National Screening Committee (UKNSC) or its successor and whose operational deliverability and funding are agreed through the annual public health function agreement.
