Description

The City of Edinburgh Council is looking to gauge interest within the market in regard to proposed Therapeutic Services for Bereaved Children and Young People within Edinburgh. The purpose of this PIN if for Prior Information and market engagement purposes only and the council may choose to competitively tender this opportunity at a later date.

Total Quantity or Scope

The City of Edinburgh Council’s vision is that Edinburgh’s children and young people enjoy their childhood and fulfil their potential. Many young people will have been bereaved of someone close to them (a parent, sibling, grandparent, friend, teacher, for example) by the time they are 18. Most children and young people will cope with the loss, with the support of those around them, however, some children and young people may need more specialised support and help. The City of Edinburgh Council currently funds a service that delivers therapeutic age appropriate activities for children and young people affected by bereavement. The current contract is due to expire September 2022 and as such, the Council would like to gauge market interest in this opportunity to shape any ensuing route to market and determine organisation’s capacity and capability to provide such a service. The service would encompass the following elements: i) Taking referrals from a wide range of partners (statutory, third sector and families), ii) Working with children and young people from the age of 5 up to 18 years who are struggling with their bereavement, iii) Provide one to one and group-based support for children and young people using therapeutic activities, and iv) The service will support approximately 50 children and young people per year receiving up to a maximum of 12 sessions, as necessary. It is expected that any provider looking to deliver this service would be: i) committed to using the Edinburgh Wellbeing Outcomes Framework, and ii) familiar with the Bereavement Care Standards. Additional information: More information can be found in the PIN Briefing Note.
