Description
A pilot programme of Culturally Appropriate Advocacy (CAA) so that patients from all ethnic backgrounds who have need detained or are receiving care under the Mental Health Act (1983) can be supported to voice their individual needs.
Total Quantity or Scope
Independent Mental Health Advocates are specialist advocates who are trained specifically to work within the framework of the Mental Health Act and provide an additional safeguard for patients who are subject to the Act. The Government committed to launching a pilot programme of Culturally Appropriate Advocacy (CAA) so that patients from all ethnic backgrounds can be supported to voice their individual needs. Phase 1 of this programme has completed and the results from this will be used to shape Phase 2.
